Kenneth R. Fletcher became Delta Township’s Supervisor in November of 2008 and is currently serving his first term. 

He and his wife Tammy are the proud parents of three beautiful children and are active in their church, St. Gerard Parish. They live in the Broadbent Woods subdivision.

Supervisor Fletcher was born in the City of Ionia in 1966. He graduated from Ionia High School and attended Michigan State University’s James Madison College where he received a B. A. in Political Theory and International Relations in 1988. 

Supervisor Fletcher has worked in the legislative and political arena in Michigan for over 20 years. He currently is the Associate Executive Director of the Michigan Nurses Association where he advocates at the State Capitol for nurses and their patients. 

In addition to his work career, Supervisor Fletcher served two terms on the Ionia City Council in the 1990’s, served as Treasurer of the Ingham County Parks Board and was elected a delegate from the 7th Congressional District to the 2006 Democratic National Convention.

Supervisor Fletcher chairs the board’s Administration and Personnel Committee and the Delta Community Awards Committee and is a member of the Public Safety and Transportation Committees.  He serves on the Board of Directors of the Lansing Economic Area Partnership, Inc (LEAP) and LEAP’s Regional Collaboration Initiative.  He is also a member of the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce Delta Government Relations Committee, the Eaton County Township Association, the MSU Alumni Association, and the Michigan Association of Township Supervisors.

His priorities as Supervisor are to preserve the quality of life in our neighborhoods, promote economic

development to bring new jobs to the area, increase regional cooperation and to foster openness and transparency in township government.

Howard Pizzo,elected November 4, 2008, as Delta Township Treasurer is committed to the effective management of government funds in accordance with state law.

Mr. Pizzo grew up in Lansing and graduated from Sexton High School. He graduated Cum Laude from Michigan State University with a BA in accounting.  His career began in Detroit with a CPA firm. Two years later he returned to Lansing to become the Lansing School District Supervisor of Accounting. After four years in this capacity, he moved to state government.  Mr. Pizzo is particularly proud of his 36 years of distinguished service with the Department of Management and Budget (DMB). Through hard work and dedication, he became the Chief Financial Officer for DMB where his team of 78 professional, technical and clerical staff accounted for an annual budget of $203 million in addition to the state’s major internal service, employee pension and insurance funds.  Mr. Pizzo is also a Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM).

In 2006 Mr. Pizzo received the Excellence in Government Leadership award, a national award from one of the largest national professional organizations, the Association of Government Accountants. In addition, he was recognized for financial leadership ability by the capital area chapters of the Association of Government Accountants and the American Society for Public Administration.

Mr. Pizzo and his wife Nell have lived in Delta Township since 1975. Their two daughters, Sophia and Stephanie, attended and graduated from the Waverly Community Schools.  Mrs. Pizzo is retired from the State Department of Community Health.  They are members of Trinity United Methodist Church in Delta Township.  Both volunteer at their church and in the community to help make Delta Township a better place to live for all people.  For exercise they go to the gym, walk and cross county ski. Mr. Pizzo enjoys photographing their grandchildren and travel.

Beginning in 1981, Janice Vedder has served the Township for eight years on the Planning Commission, four years on the Zoning and Sign Board of Appeals, and in her current position as Township Clerk for nineteen years. As Delta’s first Certified Municipal Clerk, Janice has implemented technological advancements for elections within the township and has invested multiple hours at the State Capital advocating election reform.

Ms. Vedder serves on the Election Committee, Finance Committee and Street Lighting Committee and as member of the Qualified Voter File Advisory Committee for the State of Michigan and Council of Election Officials.   She focuses her work efforts on supporting legislation to consolidate elections, records computerization, pedestrian pathways, river walks and sidewalks, and Delta’s history preservation.

Some of Ms. Vedder’s accomplishments include co-founder of the Capital Area Municipal Clerk’s Association, appointments by three Secretaries of State to special committees on voter registration, and the Help America Vote Act. She received a national award for development of a bar coding system for absentee ballots. 

Ms. Vedder is married and has two sons and one granddaughter. Her hobbies include downhill skiing, flower gardening and reading.

Jan_CunninghamJanice Cunningham

Ms. Cunningham and her husband moved to Delta Township in 1987. They chose Delta Township to raise their family because of its diversity, warmth and opportunity.     

Ms. Cunningham has always had a strong belief in community service and taking an active role in making our neighborhoods a great place to live. After moving to Delta, she became active in many local programs, volunteering her time and energies. Then, in 1996, she chose to run for and was elected to the Township Board.     

Ms. Cunningham serves on the Public Safety Committee and the Transportation Committee. She also represents the Township as a member of the Eaton County Michigan Townships Association. She also represents the Township at numerous events.    

Ms. Cunningham is an attorney and a partner with the firms of Mallory, Cunningham, Lapka & Scott, P.C. Her practice focuses solely on family law. She has served on the Ingham County Bar Association Family Law Section, Board of Directors for 60+ Legal Clinic, Waverly Education Foundation and is a trained mediator for Eaton, Clinton and Ingham counties. She has taught both FamilyLaw and Law Office Management for a number of years at Thomas M. Cooley Law School as an Adjunct Professor.

Barbara Poma, Township Trustee, was elected to the Board in November 2008.  Mrs. Poma is a life long resident of Delta Township.  Barb has an Associate degree from Lansing Community College, received a BS in Community Development from Central Michigan University, and is pursuing a Masters of Public Administration degree with a focus on local government from Western Michigan University.  Barb has been employed with Ingham Intermediate School District for over twenty years.  Prior to working with Ingham ISD, she taught entrepreneurship classes throughout Michigan.

Mrs. Poma serves on the Budget & Finance Committee, Utility & Environmental Committee, and is Chairperson of the Transportation Committee.  She also serves on the Government Youth Council and is the Delta Board Liaison with Eaton County Transit Authority. 

Barb is a member of the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals, is a Certified Global Career Development Facilitator through Western Michigan University, and a Certified Business Solutions Professional focusing on economic development.

Barb and her husband have two grown sons and enjoy music, art, and spending time with family and friends.

Jeff_HicksJeffrey C. Hicks

Jeffrey C. Hicks, Township Trustee, was raised in Delta Township having attended Waverly schools.  He has served on Delta’s Zoning Board of Appeals and Sign Board of Appeals for nearly ten years, serving as Chairman of both boards for six of those years.  Mr. Hicks serves on the Utilities and Environment Committee, and is the Board of Trustees representative to the Zoning Board of Appeals, Sign Board of Appeals and Capital Area Rail Council.

Mr. Hicks is an attorney and partner with the Lansing law firm of Hicks & Mullett, PLLC. His practice is concentrated in real property law including: commercial and residential real estate; zoning; development; boundary disputes; easements; homeowner/condo associations; and, land use. His practice also includes business and business asset sales and acquisitions, financial institution representation, and general business law.             

Mr. Hicks is a graduate of Wayne State University Law School and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science-Prelaw from Michigan State University.  He currently serves on the following boards, committees and non-profit organizations:

-Chairman of Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce Delta Government Relations Committee;
-Michigan Land Title Standards Committee of the Real Property Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan;
-Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors (Executive Committee-General Counsel) and Policy Committee;
-Ingham Regional Healthcare Foundation Board of Trustees, Contributor Gifts Division Chair, and Grants Committee Chair;
-Lansing Sesquicentennial Foundation, Inc. Board of Directors;
-Past-President of the MSU Alumni Club of Mid-Michigan;
-President of The Lansing Rotary Foundation;
-Ingham County Bar Association Judicial Candidate Evaluation Committee;
-MSU Alumni Association National Advisory Council;
-Michigan Municipal League Water Infrastructure and Environment Committee;
-Habitat For Humanity-Lansing Board of Directors (2005-2008).

Mr. Hicks is also a licensed real estate broker and is a frequent speaker and contributor on real estate issues.  He has been a presenter before the Michigan Association for Justice’s (formerly Michigan Trial Lawyers Association) People’s Law School at Thomas M. Cooley Law School,  Ingham County Bar Association, the Landlord’s Of Mid-Michigan, Lansing Community College, Lorman Education Seminars, and has written for Michigan Lawyers Weekly.  Mr. Hicks is admitted to practice in all Michigan State and Federal Courts, and the United States Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Jeff resides in the Township with his wife, Lisa and daughters, Lauren and Aubrie.

Cara_SpagnuoloCara Spagnuolo

Cara Spagnuolo, Township Trustee, was elected to the Board in November 2008.  Ms. Spagnuolo, a resident of Delta Township, graduated from Central Michigan University in 2003 where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism with a concentration in public relations and a political science minor.  While attending CMU, she was a member of the Public Relations Student Society of America and volunteered with the Mount Pleasant Police Department.  Ms. Spagnuolo serves on the Utility and Environmental Committee, the Public Safety Committee and the Elections Committee.

Ms. Spagnuolo is Director of Operations at Capitol Services, Inc., where she primarily serves a wide variety of clients through legislative monitoring as it pertains to state government as well as providing direct support to nonprofits.  Her duties include assisting clients with Political Action Committee (PAC) management and legislative monitoring for the Council About Parochiaid and the Legal Services Association of Michigan.  Cara also handles all accounts receivable and association management for the firm.
