Voter Registration

At the General Election in November of 2018, Proposal 3 a Constitutional Amendment passed unanimously statewide. This constitutional amendment affects deadlines for voters to register to vote, how they become registered to vote and who can vote by absentee ballot. 

Where do I register to vote? 

Delta Township residents can register to vote by mail, at the Township Clerk’s office, Eaton County Clerk’s Office, any State Designated State Agency or at any Secretary of State branch office. Online voter registration through the Secretary of State’s office will be available by the end of 2019. If you are registering less than 15 days before an election, you must register to vote in person at the Delta Township Clerk’s Office at 7710 W. Saginaw Highway, Lansing, MI 48917.

When is the Last Day to register to vote by mail?

15 Days before an election

To register by mail, complete the Michigan Voter Registration Application found at the Delta Township website. Complete application including birth date, drivers’ license or state ID number, or last 4 digits of social security number on application and signature.  A copy of residency verification can be submitted with voter registration application. Mail completed application to Delta Township Clerk at 7710 W. Saginaw Highway, Lansing, MI 48917 by deadline of 15 days before the election. 
 
When is the Last Day to register to vote in person?

8 pm on Election Day

Delta Township residents wishing to register to vote less than 15 days before an election, including Election Day, must register in person with proof of residency with residential address on acceptable document, (driver’s license or state identification, utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, government check or government issued document). Digital copies of documentation is accepted at the Delta Township Clerk’s Office.
 
Can I register to vote at my polling precinct?

No, if you are not registered to vote on Election Day, you must register to vote at the Delta Township Clerk’s Office.  Voter’s registering to vote on Election Day at the Delta Township Clerk’s Office may vote an absentee ballot at the Clerk’s Office when registering to vote on Election Day, or voter can take their voter registration receipt issued by the Clerk’s Office to vote in person at their polling precinct.

Voter registration can be handled through any Secretary of State’s Office in Michigan, or at the Secretary of State’s Office located in Delta Township at 8158 Executive Court (off Marketplace drive between Saginaw and St. Joe Highway), or at the Delta Township Clerk’s Office at 7710 W. Saginaw Highway. 

Updating your driver’s license at the Secretary of State’s Office or on-line at www.expressSOS.com will also update your voter registration and will be electronically submitted to Delta Township. Once received by Delta Township a voter identification card will be sent.

Change of Address
 
If you move, you must update your address.  This can be handled at the Delta Township Clerk’s Office, or at any Secretary of State Branch office or online at www.expressSOS.com.  Whenever you move to a new city or township or move within your current city or township, even if the change is as minor as moving to a different apartment within the same complex, you must update your voter registration or re-register to vote. The Michigan Voter Registration Form is located under Election Documents. The form must be printed, completely filled out, signed and mailed to the Delta Township Clerk’s Office at 7710 W. Saginaw Highway, Lansing, MI 48917.
