What are the Community Impact Awards?

The Delta Township Community Impact Awards Program was created to help recognize the significant contributions our citizens, businesses, and organizations make to our community and celebrate their accomplishments. It highlights those individuals who have gone above and beyond to make Delta Township a great place to live, work, and play through service to their community.

Founded by former Delta Township Board Member and 2017 Legacy Award Recipient Dorothy E. Maxwell and nurtured by a group of community-minded volunteers and staff, this program will celebrate its 17th anniversary recognizing the best that Delta Township has to offer.

There are limited tickets available onsite on a first-come-first-served basis.

The Delta Township Community Impact Awards Reception will be held at the Crowne Plaza Lansing West Hotel located at 925 S Creyts Rd, Lansing, MI 48917.  Tickets for this event are available at the link below or may be purchased in person at the Parks and Recreation Counter in the Administration Building located at 7710 W. Saginaw Hwy or over the phone by calling 517-323-8555.  

Physical tickets will not be provided for this event.  When you purchase a ticket, your name will be added to a list of attendees along with the number of tickets purchased.  When you arrive at the event, you will need to check in at the main registration table to enter the event.

Program Awards

Nominees must meet the criteria listed within the nomination forms. Nominations should be submitted through the online entry form(s) listed to the left (a printable version is also available under each tab as a downloadable PDF.)  If you choose to fill out a hard copy nomination, please return it via email to the Delta Township Community Awards Committee at awards@deltami.gov, or by mail to the Manager’s Office, 7710 West Saginaw Highway, Lansing, MI 48917.

Nominations are being sought for the following categories:
 
The Citizen of the Year Award will honor selected individual citizens whose extraordinary contributions go “above and beyond” to enhance the quality of life and the general reputation of the township.

The Young Person of the Year Award is limited to current high school seniors (whether traditional high school or home-schooled) who have made a positive contribution to the community, is an example to their friends, may have excelled in academics, music, arts, athletics, etc., or has successfully faced personal challenges. A $2,000 academic scholarship, sponsored by the Delta Side Business Association will be awarded to the recipient.

The Business of the Year Award will honor selected Delta Township businesses or business persons who have been responsible for exceptional outcomes between and among businesses, governments, and nonprofit organizations; OR, have served as a role model for other businesses; OR, have gone above and beyond the scope of business to support and promote Delta Township.  The goal is to promote shared community interests and encourage business harmony within the township and amongst entities of the Greater Lansing Region.

The Organization of the Year Award was established to honor selected groups or organizations for their dedication to serving and promoting Delta Township through volunteer contributions to a project, program, or ongoing activity that has impacted the quality of life in Delta Township, provided leadership over a period of years, thereby contributing to the township’s character, and/or made a valuable contribution that has enhanced the quality of life for residents of Delta Township. This may include exceptional outcomes in property rehabilitation, residential, recreational, or commercial area beautifications, preservation of clean, safe neighborhoods, or other environmental improvements within the township.
