2022 Scheduled Elections

  • Register to Vote Up to 15 Days Prior to Election – Voters can register at any Secretary of State office, any State designated agency, County Clerk’s Office, Township Clerk’s Office, mail or internet.
  • Register to Vote 14 Days Prior to Election through Election Day 8:00 p.m. – Voters can register at their local Clerk’s Office in person to be eligible to vote on Election Day.

August 2, 2022 – Primary Election – (OPEN PRIMARY)
Voter Registration Deadline – Election Day – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 2, 2022

Delta Township residents will have the opportunity to vote in the OPEN PRIMARY ELECTION scheduled for Tuesday, August 2, 2022, throughout the State of Michigan.  An open primary has both Democratic and Republican offices on the ballot, but a voter can only vote in one party during the August Primary Election. If a voter “cross-party votes” (votes for candidates in both the Republican and Democratic offices) the partisan section of the ballot will not count. Any non-partisan votes cast on the ballot would be valid votes. If a voter is at the precinct and makes a mistake, they may let an Election Inspector know so the ballot can be spoiled and replaced to vote correctly.  If you are voting by absent voter ballot, please contact the Clerk’s Office at 323-8500. The voter will be instructed to seal the ballot in the ballot envelope and write SPOILED on the outside. The envelope is returned in person or by mail and a new ballot will be issued.  The August Primary is to “reduce the number of candidates” for each office by the party. Winners in August Primary Election are placed on the General Election ballot on November 8, 2022. If residents will be out of the community on Election Day or need any information regarding the upcoming election, contact the Township Clerk’s Office at 323-8500. 

The Delta Township Clerk’s Office will be open for extended hours on Saturday, July 30 and Sunday, July 31, 2022, to process voter registration applications and absent voter applications for the following hours:

Saturday, July 30, 2022 –8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Sunday, July 31, 2022 – 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

November 8, 2022 – General Election 
Voter Registration Deadline – Election Day - Tuesday, November 8, 2022

The General Election of 2022, will be elected Governor for the State of Michigan on November 8, 2022, along with many more partisan, and non-partisan offices.  In a General Election, all parties, the two major parties; Republican and Democrat, and minor parties; Green, Libertarian, Natural Law, U.S. Taxpayers, and Working-Class that are represented in Michigan will be on the ballot.  In General Elections voters have the choice of voting; “Straight Ticket” Vote the party of your choice. Nothing further needs to be done in the partisan section of the ballot. “Split Ticket” Voters may vote a straight ticket AND vote for individual candidates of your choice or “Mixed Ticket” Vote for the individual candidates of your choice in each office. Nonpartisan and Proposal Sections of the ballot must be voted separately.  When voters choose to vote for each office individually the only restriction is, voters must only vote for the number of candidates allowed to be elected as identified under the office heading for each office on the ballot. If the voter votes for more candidates than is allowed the votes within that office will not count. In a precinct, if a voter does over-vote or makes any other mistake, the voter should let an Election Inspector know so the ballot can be spoiled and replaced to vote correctly.  If you are voting by absent voter ballot, please contact the Clerk’s Office at 323-8500 for instructions on how to spoil, return the spoiled ballot and get a new ballot issued.  If residents will be out of the community on Election Day or need any information regarding the upcoming election, contact the Township Clerk’s Office at 323-8500.
