The following checklist has been prepared to assist you in launching your business
Home-based Businesses

• Some home-based businesses are permitted, some require a Special Land Use Permit, and some are prohibited.

Site Selection/Resources

• Find a site for lease or purchase
• Schedule a pre-application meeting
• Identify business resources

 Site Plan Review

• Check Zoning Ordinance for compliance 
• Zoning Explorer
• Determine if Site Plan Review is required
• Get development approval

Building Services

• Arrange for building permits and inspections
• Discuss code compliance for the project
• Building or property alterations may require submittal of a Site Plan for review

Fire Safety

• Schedule a fire inspection
• Ensure building and/or fire protection systems are adequate

Signs

• Determine if you business requires a sign permit.  See the Sign Ordinance

Assessments

• Will you business be required to pay personal property tax?

Business Licensing

• In general, the Township has no licensing requirements beyond the State of Michigan requirements.

• Delta Township does require you to license a food truck or food cart.  Special Transitory Food Units Ordinance
