The following is additional information to
assist funeral homes.
- All requests must be made at least 24 hours in advance.
- Requests for burials must be made by calling the Parks,
Recreation and Cemeteries office at 323-8555 between
8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
- Requests for Monday morning burials must be made prior
to 3 p.m. on Friday.
- If a request for a Monday afternoon burial cannot
be made prior to 5 p.m. on Friday, it can be made by
calling our answering service (number issued to funeral
homes only) on Saturday between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. You
are requested, however, to make every effort to make
the request on Friday. The answering service will reach
a representative of the Cemetery Department who will
get back to you as soon as possible. The service number
is to be used only by Funeral Directors. Do not give
this number to anyone else.
- On holidays recognized by Delta Township (New Year's
Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day,
Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day) you may
call the answering service between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
to make burial arrangements. Again, you are requested
to make every effort to call on regular work days.
- Do not call the service number in the evening, Saturday
afternoon, or Sunday as your requests will not be recognized
if you do so. Do not leave grave opening orders on the
Township's voice mail system as the timing of when these
get checked may not coincide with your request.
- If your client does not have a burial space arranged
it is strongly suggested that you do not set the funeral
time until you have spoken directly with us.
- When using the answering service do not assume anything
is set until you hear from us directly.
All other business must be transacted between
8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Parks, Recreation
and Cemeteries office or by calling 323-8555.
Opening and closing fees
are to be paid at the cemetery on the day of the burial.
They cannot be prepaid unless death has already occurred
and it is more convenient for you to come to the office
ahead of time. Opening and closing fees are per burial,
even if both burials are to be placed in the same plot at
the same time.
Burials must be scheduled prior to
4 p.m. (arrival time). If you arrive at the cemetery
after 4 p.m., you will be assessed a late fee.
Family Independence Agency
burials are drop-offs only (no tent set up, etc.). There
is a reduced grave opening rate. Please contact us for details.

Standard 13" wide x 8" deep x 8" high
Oversized 13" wide x 8" deep x 11" high
Plots are numbered south to north
within each lot. Traditionally, the female is placed on
the north side.

Veteran's Plaques
Please have them shipped directly to us at Delta Township
Cemeteries, 7710 West Saginaw Hwy, Lansing, MI 48917. If
you are placing it flush in the ground, we will do that
for you at no additional cost above the cost to pour the
foundation. We will recess it into the concrete. If it is
to be placed on a monument, please make arrangements with
the monument company to attach it, at whatever fees they
charge. It can still be shipped here.
