The Information Technology Department provides information technology services within our organization. The department provides technical direction and support to all township departments and facilities emcompassing everything from desktop computers, to email and web services.
 
 
 

Current IT Initiates

Digital Document Management for Township Wide Paper Reduction

A few years ago Delta Townshp purchased the Laserfiche document management software to handle, store, and retrieve important township documents. Not only does it store documents in a digital, easy to retrieve format, but it reduces paper use and paper storage throughout the township. It is one of the many small steps Delta Township is taking to be green and reduce waste.

Enhanced Web & GIS Access

The IT Department has been working on creating a better web experience for its external and internal users. This includes adding web access to lots of township mapping.

Township Wide Printer Reduction

Through a recent inventory the IT Department found that the township was maintaining close to 40 different printers. Through that inventory, a closer look at exactly how much these printers were costing not only monitary but cost to the environment. It was determined that it was in the best interest of the township to begin reducing printers in all departments. It is the goal of the department to reduce printer by 70% by the end of 2009.

 
 

GIS

Delta Township has been maintaining computer generated maps since 1985.   The original goal was to create a full township parcel file.  Since realizing that goal the township’s mapping system has grown into the enterprise Geographic Information System (GIS) it is today, with scores of datasets assisting almost all township departments.  This GIS information can be accessed via the township secure network as well as the township intranet and external internet web sites.

Responsibilities

The township IT department is responsible for every peice of computer related hardward and software throughout the townshp as well at the new Delta Township District Library. In addition to the computer and software responsibilities the IT Department handles the township GIS as well as all township websites.
