Delta Township Senior Council

The goals of the Delta Township Senior Council are to seek improvement to the township through community projects and encourage education of seniors regarding township programs and amenities. The Senior Council consists of Senior Representatives, age 50 and up, who are residents of Delta Township.

Senior Council Application

The RSVP Bridge to Wellness is re-starting a Walking Club for the spring and summer. Walks will originate at the Delta Township Library, and walkers will go down the pathway through Sharp Park. No registration is necessary. Just bring comfortable shoes and dress for the weather!  Every Tuesday from 11a.m.-12 p.m.  This event is sponsored by RSVP, with support from the Michigan Health Endowment Fund.

Coffee with the Council  Come join us for an informal gathering with a variety of topics.  Upcoming dates are: May 11, September 14, October 12, November 9. We meet at 10:30 a.m. at the Enrichment Center.  Check our Facebook page for specific details.

Lunchtime Lectures
Join us at the Library for weekly online lectures featuring the world’s most influential thinkers, creators, makers and doers speaking at Google offices around the world. April is Nature – Up Close and Personal

Tuesday, April 4, 12:30 p.m.
The Pollinators. Learn about the latest research/news of the pollinators with a presentation by a conservationist from Eaton Conservation District, Sue Spagnuolo. Bring your lunch if desired.

Tuesday, April 11, 12:30 p.m.
Low Maintenance Woody Ornamentals for Home Landscapes.  Diane Brown, an MSU Extension Educator will share a presentation on techniques to use, plants to consider, arrangement of plants and other
tips. Bring your lunch if desired.

Tuesday, April 18, 12:30 p.m.
Field trip to Capital City Bird Sanctuary!  Join Rachelle Roake, Conservation Science Coordinator with Michigan Audubon Society, as she leads attendees on a nature/bird walk through the sanctuary.  Meet at the parking lot of Hawk Meadow Park (6160 Delta River Drive).  Recommendations for the field trip- wear boots and bring binoculars if possible.

Tuesday, April 25, 12:30 p.m.
Amie Lucas’ Nature Photography. Amie will present a slide show of her nature photography- most of which is taken in our beautiful state. She will share some tips & techniques to capturing nature- “up close & personal”.  Bring your lunch if desired.

Note: with the exception of the Field Trip (April 25) all presentations will be held in the Delta Township Library.

Delta Township Senior Council Quarterly Get Together June 21, 2017
All Delta Township Senior Citizens are cordially invited to attend the Delta Township Senior Council Quarterly Get Together on June 21, 2017 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m. in the Elmwood Room at the Delta Township Library – Karen Kafantaris, Associate State Director of AARP will be our guest speaker. She will discuss the positive impacts of creating communities for families, young adults, and seniors.

Play in the Park Day is looking for volunteers:  The event is Saturday, August 26.
