Delta Township Historical Society

In 1837, when the local population of Delta Mills reached 18, a United States Post Office was established with Erastus Ingersoll named the first postmaster. The township was organized in 1842 and was named Delta.

Today, Delta's population is over 29,000 and accounts for almost 30% of Eaton County 's population. Many of the names of families in Delta today are the names of the earlier settlers.

Each quarter, the Delta Magazine, provides an article about the history of Delta Township as well as providing a display of related historical items in the showcase in the lobby of the Administration Building . After several meetings in 2005, a group of local residents have agreed to organize a formal Delta Township Historical Society.

The group has completed the steps to achieve the 501 (c) (3) status.  All contributions will now be tax deductible for donors. 

Board members and committee members are needed. If you are willing to volunteer a small amount of your time (a few hours every other month) and act as a board or committee member, please contact Ms. Lamoreaux at (517) 323-3210 or via e-mail at Ritalamo@hotmail.com.
