Current Projects

  • Old Lansing Road and Millett Hwy. watermain extension will start soon. This is a system improvement that will complete the watermain between Crawford Cove and Bittersweet. This project will provide greater reliability to the area because two dead end watermain's will be connected allowing water to follow from two directions to any point along these mains.
  • The Eaton County Drain office has submitted preliminary plans for a number of drain projects proposed in Delta Township. These projects are not major construction projects but rather small projects to eliminate isolated problem areas as well as rehabilitation of some old pipes.

Phase II Stormwater Program and the Grand River Watershed Plan

Representatives from the Grand River (Delta Township), Red Cedar River, and Looking Glass River Watersheds have been meeting for the purpose of responding to proposed actions designed to meet previously-determined goals and objectives for each of the watersheds.  The following is a list of those goals:

  • Educate the public about the importance of protecting and managing the watershed.
  • Provide a sustainable and equitable funding mechanism.
  • Encourage water quality-friendly development.
  • Restore and enhance habitat for wildlife and aquatic animals.
  • Protect and increase wetlands.
  • Provide pollution prevention/good housekeeping practices for municipal operations.
  • Encourage water quality friendly agricultural practices.

Everything humans pour on the ground or in the storm drain ends up in the lakes, rivers, and streams.  We need your help to keep our watershed clean.

To report suspicious activity, or if you see someone dumping anything but clean water in the storm sewers, streets, rivers, or even on the ground, please contact Dennis Williams, Township Engineer at 517.323.8540.

Delta Township Sidewalk Program

Delta Township is placing a higher priority on creating a safer pedestrian and bicycle friendly community. The Delta Township Sidewalk Plan was updated in April 2003, and again in May 2007. The Delta Trails Non-Motorized Transportation Plan was adopted in April, 2005. For a listing of the adopted Sidewalk Plan Goals and Objectives, please click here.

Delta sidewalk construction is complete for 2008, however sidewalk repairs/replacements are being done now. New this year is the saw cutting of trip hazards. In the past we have used a grinding method for these trip hazards. Following the completion of the work, we will evaluate both methods and decide what method to use in the future. Only walks that are stable and intact throughout their depth are candidates for grinding or sawing.

The Capital Area Groundwater Alliance (CAGA) was created to protect and preserve our drinking water at its source. CAGA is a group of communities working together to maintain high standards of water quality and to educate residents and businesses about water protection.

Capital Area Groundwater Alliance represents residents and businesses of the Cities of Lansing and East Lansing, Bath, Delhi, Delta, Lansing and Meridian Townships, the Village of Webberville and Michigan State University. CAGA members voluntarily agree to meet high standards of water quality and are dedicated, through their wellhead protection programs, to protecting our drinking water over and above what is expected. CAGA is one of the largest alliances in the nation working to prevent groundwater contamination.
