Each year, Delta Township fire department
personnel conduct tours of the fire stations; teach children fire
safety, and visit elementary schools. Annually, over 2,800 children
receive fire prevention materials.
During Fire Prevention
Week, on October 9th, 2008, an open house will be held at the Central Fire Station
and hundreds of children, parents, and adults will attend. This is
an opportunity for the public to see fire apparatus, ambulances, an
air-ambulance helicopter, and a 'Live Fire' demonstration.
Ongoing tours of the fire station, a blood pressure clinic, and Eaton
County 911 Central Dispatch demonstration are also provided.
Children will also have
the chance to experience the spraying of water from a fire hose, crawling
through the Family Fire Safety House, a house filled with artificial
smoke, and a time to review the importance of having a home-safety
exit plan for emergencies.
