Chief Hilbert is Named Michigan's
Fire Chief of the Year
On July 26, 2007 at the Michigan Association of Fire Chiefs 82nd Annual Summer Leadership Conference, Delta Township's Fire Chief, Victor Hilbert, was presented the prestigious Fire Chief of the Year award. Chief Hilbert was honored for his dedication and commitment to Michigan’s fire service community, both in the Metro Lansing area and throughout the State of Michigan.
The Michigan Association of Fire Chiefs represent fire chiefs in Michigan regarding legislation and regulations that affect fire, rescue and emergency medical services.
Chief Hilbert has served on various committees for the Michigan Association of Fire Chiefs, including the Michigan Building Code Review Committee. Chief Hilbert has also served as the President of the Western Michigan Fire Chiefs Association.
In addition to serving the citizens of Delta Township with distinction for 23 years, Chief Hilbert has also been very active throughout the Metro Lansing area and the State of Michigan. He has a broad background in the fire service, has taught at the community college level and holds teaching certifications in the states of Virginia, Maryland, Minnesota, and Michigan. Chief Hilbert’s educational background includes a Bachelor’s Degree, a Master's Degree, and an Education Specialist’s Degree in Educational Administration.
Chief Hilbert is a visionary and has revitalized the Delta Township Fire Department during the past 23 years with new equipment, training programs, policies and procedures as well as being an active participant in the building of two new fire stations. Under Chief Hilbert’s leadership, the Delta Township Fire Department has become a source of pride for not only the community, but is often referred to as one of the premier fire departments in central Michigan. The Delta Township Fire Department provides fire, rescue, hazardous material, and special operations responses in addition to operating four ACLS ambulances to serve the citizens of Delta Township.
